Hello! Here is my slightly modified version of One Pot Pasta for you guys. Or as I like to call it OPP (Who’s down with OPP?). Now I have the Naughty By Nature Song stuck in your head. Didn’t I?
I digress. I tried this on Tuesday, and it was an epic Fail. I added a can of tomato sauce in addition to the chicken broth, It caused the noodles to get mushy.
On Wednesday, I decided to give this another go. This time, I followed the directions I found at Apron Stings. I made a few modifications. First I used fresh tomatoes from my garden instead of canned tomatoes. I used dry minced onions because I don’t eat onions. I also used Ditaloni Rigati pasta instead of Linguine. Lastly, I pressed the garlic instead of slicing it.
First I browned the Italian sausage. While the sausage was browning, I chopped up the tomatoes and basil, and pressed the garlic.
Once the sausage was browned, I put that aside in a bowl, so I could cook the mushrooms and garlic. Once those were cooked, I added the meat, tomatoes, basil, Ditaloni Rigati, chicken broth and other spices.
I brought everything to a boil, stirring every few minutes. (I forgot to do this last time and things got stuck together). I let everything cook until the sauce got thick.
Finito, with some shaved Parmesan, and Lakefront Brewery’s Pumpkin Lager.
