Weekend Update

Hello, hello!

As I wrote this, I was enjoying my Sunday by watching football at my dad’s.  Sundays in the fall and winter have always been devoted to football-except in the early 80’s when the Packers were atrocious and my mom banned the games at home because my dad couldn’t watch the games with out being a lunatic! Thankfully he’s mellowed out in his old age. We kept up the tradition when I moved back to Green Bay in 2004.

This week I made a few online purchases.  I found a stuffed Llama, and I paid $2.82.  I also ordered a skirt from Eshakti. I had a coupon for $30.00, and the skirt was on sale for $31.95!  I paid more for shipping ($9.95) than I did for the skirt!  I can’t wait to get it.

Friday night, I went to Field of Scenes Drive In some friends.  We saw Despicable Me 2, and Planes. I really liked Despicable Me 2.  I’m not sure if it was intentional or not , or if I was reading too much into the scene, but there were a few times that Gru reminded me of Michael Scott.

Saturday morning, I got up early, went to my former high school to watch a friend’s daughter’s volleyball game.  It brought back memories of my time there…and it made me feel OLD. 🙂  After the volleyball game, I went with Jenny and her son Payton to lunch at a local Mexican Restaurant.  I’ve been there a few times, and for whatever reason, our service was pretty poor.  I’m not one to usually complain, but after bringing our food, we didn’t see our server until we were done, and had piled our plates for them.  I know that it was noon, but it wasn’t that busy, I think there were five tables that were seated.

After lunch we went to some rummage sales.  I saw a table that I liked, but it didn’t SING to me.  You know what I mean?  We also stopped at the Salvation Army, and left empty handed again. We were going to go to see some vintage cars at Heritage Hill State Park, but it was hot and I was having a Snickers moment!

After I dropped off Jenny, I had all intentions of going home, and I’m glad I didn’t! I went to Kirkland’s to get some sachets.  I also ended up getting a set of 3 jars.  I picked up one thinking it was going to be half off the marked price, which $4.98, I thought not bad.  I went to pay and the cashier told me that it was a set of three!  It took a moment to register that all three jars were $4.98! Score!  I have plans for these apothecary jars.  I’m going to turn them in to Halloween candy jars.  I ran to Joann Fabrics, and picked up some accessories for L Letterpress stamping and embossing.  I picked up 10 inks, a brayer, and 7 embossing plates all for about $36.  The inks were on clearance for $0.97 each, the brayer and plates were on clearance for $2.97.  I’m still waiting to get the machine!

Finally yesterday, I stopped at TJMaxx on my way home and picked up some Halloween napkins, some lotion and Champagne Garlic Honey Mustard Pretzel Dip from a company called Robert Rothschild, it’s Gluten-Free, and pairs nicely with Snyder’s of Hanover Gluten-Free pretzels.  I got stuck in the store because of a torrential downpour! Needing to get out of the store, unless I wanted to spend much more money, I braved the rain and made a dash to my car.  After the hot day, the rain was warm and actually felt nice,,,until my jeans were soaked!

My closet is coming along slowly but surely.  I am going to put in another shelf to add more room.  My birthday is October 30th, and this year I’m thinking about throwing a birthday party/Halloween party at my place this year the following Saturday, which is going to be November 2nd.  I’m thinking it will work because the Packer game for that week is a Monday Night game.  I have off Wednesday and Thursday, so I can get everything ready.  My mom always threw parties for me when I was a kid, she made my costume, and all of my aunts, uncles and cousins on my dad’s side and friends would come over.  My last actual birthday party was a surprise party my parents threw when I turned 18.  Since then I’ve just gone out to the bars, or house parties. So I am researching party and decoration ideas..  I’ll keep you all posted with what I decide to do!

What do you do when summer starts to turn into fall?
