This was my first weekend back to normal post the holidays. All of my Christmas decorations are down and I didn’t have any plans. Well Friday I had plans, but they got cancelled due to the weather. After “The Big Freeze”, the weather warmed up a bit around here. Late Friday afternoon, we got rain, that quickly made the roads icy and cars freeze shut.
After work, I ran to a few stores picked up groceries that I needed and ran to TJMaxx and picked up a Dutch Oven. I have to say that this is one of the prettiest pans I have. I didn’t want to get it dirty but I’m glad I was able to break it in! I feel the need to name her…
So my plans for Friday were to make dinner for a friend and then hang out with him. I made dinner, in hopes that the roads weren’t too bad. For dinner I made Baked Mostaccioli. I pared it with some Hallowine from Door Peninsula Winery.
We watched part of the Denver/San Diego game while the beef was finishing up and my potatoes were boiling.
It was nice having dinner at my place. I don’t do it too often but it was a nice change of pace.
After my dad left I made dessert. I had picked up some strawberries and raspberries and cooked them in Chambord and drizzled the hot sauce over some french vanilla ice cream. I’ll have more on this later this week.
It was a nice weekend to not have any plans. and really just relax and have “me” time. But according to the weather report, we’re going to get another 4 to 7 inches of snow tomorrow. After a nice break from snow removal, it looks like I’m gonna have a lot more snow to remove.

Wow, your post is making me hungry. What is Baked Mostaccioli? It's looks delicious and pretty easy to make. I tend to stick with pastas because it's easy enough for me to cook. I'm trying to cook more, but sometimes it's tempting to just pick up something from the restaurant nearby. If you have any good recipes/tips for a newbie, please let me know!

Thank you! Baked Mostaccioli is a super easy baked pasta dish. My brother introduced me to it! I totally get what you mean about picking something up at a restaurant. With busy schedules, it's can be so much easier just to grab something on the way home. I'll have my recipes up later this week. 🙂
